Specific Eligibility Requirements

This award recognizes and honours organizations that are integrating diversity into their workplaces so that employees, clients/customers and others are respected and included. Diversity can take many forms. It can include:

  • our ethno-cultural, Aboriginal, religious and racial backgrounds
  • whether we were born here or have moved here from another place
  • our abilities and disabilities
  • our gender, and
  • other personal differences

Inclusive organizations value the differing abilities, experiences and perspectives of all their employees, clients/customers and others. Inclusive organizations can help create welcoming and inclusive communities.

Organizations can integrate diversity and be inclusive in many ways. For example, you could tell us about your efforts to:

  • develop a more diverse workforce, by recruiting employees from diverse backgrounds;
  • build an organization that is respectful and inclusive, by developing policies and programs so that employees, clients/customers and others feel welcomed and included, for example by developing more culturally inclusive and sensitive practices;
  • change your organizational policies, culture and business practices to eliminate discrimination and barriers to employment and/or help integrate and reflect diversity more fully with employees, clients and community.

We encourage applications for all kinds of organizations. However, if your organization is in the business of helping other organizations develop more inclusive and diverse workforces or services, please make sure your application describes the efforts your own organization is taking to make itself more diverse and inclusive.
